Re: Foodsafe Filament

So, I guess what I'm wondering now, is does washing with hot soapy water work as well with things we print, as it does with plastics that we buy? Or is the plastic we print toxic itself?

Re: Foodsafe Filament

Ok, good point. But, since plastic utensiles, dishes, trays, storage containers, etc. use different processes like injection molding, they don't leave microscopic voids in them? Or is it that they don't use thermoplastics?

Foodsafe Filament

I posted a question over a year ago about whether any filament was foodsafe. Nobody replied. I'm repeating the request because I'd like to print some things that would be used with food. I'm hoping there is more information available now about the food safety uses of 3D printing filament. Thanks for...

Re: Taz 5 Calibration Print

I just noticed my Y zero position is 1/4" from the end of the bed, and the Y+ edge of the print is 1" from the end of the bed. I'll have to see if moving Y zero changes the calibration print, in the morning... That, however, probably won't change the anomolies I see in prints. Thanks for the suggest...

Re: Taz 5 Calibration Print

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. The thing I'm having trouble understanding is that two corners have perfect radii, and two do not... The upper right and upper left corners truncate the radious of the corner. I'm thinking if it was a loose belt, no corner radius would be consistent. Is ther...

Taz 5 Calibration Print

Let me preface this by saying I come from the world of CNC machining. I am a tecnician that maintained the electronic and computer components of these machines. However I'm fairly new to 3D printing. So my prints are coming out pretty nicely, but there are some anomalies. When I print the calibratio...

Re: Taz 5 PEI Plate Bubbling?

That is a small amount of air between the heater and plate. Not sure it's a problem unless they get really big. I would just monitor it over time, you can also push on the back and probably get the heater to re stick in those spots but only use your fingers, nothing hard or sharp. On my TAZ 5 the b...
