Minimum layer height

I'm second guessing myself and I'd like to confirm this. My printer has a .35 nozzle. I seem to recall that the minimum layer one can print is half the diameter of the nozzle, so in my case it would be 0.175mm, however, the default cura settings generated for "fine" printing is 0.14. I also (vaguely...

One of our re-sellers itworks3d has a good selection of parts available for our older printers.

Here is a link to their Taz 4/5 parts page:

Thanks zachah

Replacement nozzles for Taz4 Budaschnozzle

I own a Taz4 with a Budaschnozzle hot end. I've never replaced the nozzle, and I suspect it's now in need of replacing. I contacted Lulbot's tech support and they were pretty much worthless (was told to go buy a completely new hotend, which will also require a new connector kit, and make my other ho...

Re: TAZ 4 5 differences

I own a Taz 4 with the original Budaschnozzle 0.35 nozzle (and original wiring harness). The bed however has been upgraded to the new PEI bed. Can I flash it to the Taz 5 firmware, or is there more to it? I know there is a new harness to connect an additional fan... if that's not a concern, can I fl...

Re: Nozzle diameter, and diameter of extruded material

@kcchen_00 I have two calipers - one pretty inexpensive (sub $50) and another that's pretty decent (was in the $100-$150 range if I remember correctly), and both are telling me 0.75.

Nozzle diameter, and diameter of extruded material

I own a Taz 4 (with a 0.35 mm nozzle), and I have a question about nozzle diameter. I just extruded 10 mm of filament and measured what was extruded, but the diameter of of what was extruded was 0.75 mm, not 0.35 mm. What I did was this: 1. On my printer I have some gray PLA filament (recently purch...

Re: Filament grinding

FWIW, another user (kmanley57) suggested that the issue was that the heat sink wasn't getting cooled enough since it was inside an enclosure (great for ABS, but apparently not so much for PLA). I removed the top and the front panel of my enclosure, and PLA is now printing great again. I haven't prin...

Re: Prints end up "printing in air"

Thanks kmanley57, that was the issue. My printer is inside an enclosure I build, and this morning I removed the top and front panel. I printed one successful print this morning, and I'm 3/4 the way through another. I'm still using the stock fan that came w/my Taz 4... I searched thingiverse and this...

Re: Filament grinding

I'm experiencing something similar (see https://forum.lulzbot.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=7696). My prints end up "printing in air" and the filament in the hot end is chewed up. Not 100% sure if my issue is due to the filament getting grinded down and chewed up, but that does seem to be one of the issu...

Re: Prints end up "printing in air"

I may have posted too soon... I just read a few posts underneath mine a posting from JRAlvarez ("Filament grinding") and it looks like he's experiencing a similar problem. Here's some more information on my situation though: * The filament is PLA and is quality filament from MatterHackers (and the c...
