Re: Taz 4 Upgrade

Thank you again. OK, so for non-printed parts I've got some mysteries still: rod - http://us.misumi-ec.com/vona2/detail/110300086920/? or "8mm Smooth Rod x 18-19mm - MBK"? upper bearing - is this the IGUS RJM-01-10 (https://www.lulzbot.com/products/solid-polymer-bearing-rjm-01-10mm) or are we talkin...

Re: Taz 4 Upgrade

Thank you for your reply! This leads to a few more questions, but the most important one is, are the new non-printable Taz 4 parts available for sale from Aleph, or elsewhere? Even if we speak only about the Z-axis, is there any list of the new printable parts? And am I right to infer that there is ...

Taz 4 Upgrade

Hi all, I apologize for asking what is probably a basic question. What are the steps and parts for upgrading to Taz 4? In particular I am looking for info along the lines of, "too many things have changed, you can't upgrade earlier models to it" - or, here are the things that have changed (or are th...

Re: Rotator Cuff - too much extrusion on corners or overhang

Thanks again for the advice. The generated support worked admirably. I try to avoid using ABS slurry, but that further reduced overhangs simply by keeping things firmly attached. I was sure I had it this time: IMG_20131028_212210925.jpg bracelet_0.5 v33.ini Rotator_Cuff-XXL - v33.gcode.zip But the r...

Re: Rotator Cuff - too much extrusion on corners or overhang

When I tried this model a couple of weeks ago I found that the rings printed rather closely and needed to be cut apart. Support removal would be trivial. Change the support spacing to 4mm and it's sparse and easily removed. Supports it is! The fact that you got it to print at all is good to know. T...

Re: Rotator Cuff - too much extrusion on corners or overhang

Are you using a fan? ABS or PLA? If PLA you'll really want to install a fan. Your prints will improve tremendously. Ideally the fan would blow on the top couple of layers of the printed object, not just on the nozzle as some mounts are trying. You'll find that it may not be too much extrusion, but ...

Rotator Cuff - too much extrusion on corners or overhangs

I've been trying to print http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:117026 and having an interesting problem. Well, many problems, but one in particular that's been surprising. IMG_20131020_162111663_HDR.jpg Seemingly independent of anything I've found to adjust so far, even when I get the flow rate way, way...

OK, I tried it, and it worked out very well. Created a new thread about it here:

Taz fan mount!

I had success with this design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:147966 I used the Lulzbot fan (http://www.lulzbot.com/?q=products/12vdc-fan-40mm). Unfortunately I didn't think to measure how long the wires I ran were before I closed up the patient, so I can't tell you the length you'll need. Just g...
