Re: toolhead switching with an electropermanent magnet

Huh, neat! so the board powers on to repel the permanent magnet when you want to switch, but holds when power is off? I like it. What temperature does the magnet start to loose attraction at? Any issues with it being in a heated enclosure? Right? It actually can switch from being magnetic or non ma...

It'll definitely be demo'd at the open house, along with absolutely everything else we've been working on. Open source is cool like that :)

toolhead switching with an electropermanent magnet

Heya We've been doing some really cool research into toolhead switching options in the big-thompson research project (http://devel.lulzbot.com/research_projects/big-thompson/video_and_photo/). The concept is that a printer could have a rack of toolheads (different colors, flexy's, MOARstruders, etc)...

Re: BETA: Cura LulzBot Edition v20 and Marlin v1.1.x for Mini

Hmmm, OK, I'll try again with your link to the latest firmware. Something definitely seems off with my Mini. I was trying to calibrate my E-steps last night and could only submit one G1 E100 F40 command without having to restart the control window (and remember to set it to extrude temp). If I try ...

Re: TAZ 6 - Just noticed the Y-Axis Doesn't Touch the Table

Can we set up the TAZ 4 frames the same way with the feet a smidgeon off the table without causing any printing problems or is the TAZ 6 frame more reinforced to make this happen? This should be fine to do on the TAZ 4 or 5, the 6 frame is more reinforced but it shouldn't cause issues. If you're wo...

Re: TAZ 6 - Just noticed the Y-Axis Doesn't Touch the Table

Heya There's a reason you're all seeing this, it's actually an intentional part of the design of the TAZ 6. With the TAZ 5 and before all of the feet were on the same plane, so if you set up the printer on a table that wasn't flat some of that unflatness would get translated into the y-axis and coul...

Re: LulzBot TAZ 3D Printers Get Another Multi-Material Tool Head Upgrade

Heyo! Can the extruded filament be cooled independently? Does the mount mate properly with the X-carriage? The Dual Extruder V2 had a squared off "shoulder" which didn't mate well with the X-carriage's curved shape. Both the dual and the flexydually have bi-directional fans so it will cool the filam...

Re: Does the TAZ have any over heating safety measures?

Sebastian's exactly right. The feature isn't disabled on the TAZ, the thermal runaway wasn't even implemented until it came out around the time we were working on the Mini and TAZ 5. We implemented it on the Mini but had to disable it for release as it had been throwing false positives frequently. A...

Re: Materials used in Flexystruder

You guys know the BOM for Kanyu is the wrong one right? I'm pretty sure a flexystruder doesn't need 3 bearings and an extruder latch, and should have a listing for a PTFE tube somewhere in there. Heya! I think you might be in the wrong directory or looking at a cached file or something? Everything ...

Re: Help with Nylon. Head and bed temp

I've experienced a bit of the same issues with excessive filament leaking out of the nozzle at the recommended print tempreatures. I've found that it's usually caused by excess moisture in the filament, nylons love water. You can try to dry out the filament in a sealed bag with some desiccant or bak...
