Re: Is it safe to upgrade to Cura Lulzbot Edition 3.2.27?

I skipped the upgrade at first and downloaded Slic3r PE and Ultimaker Cura 3.6. I manually added my Mini and hacked the startup G-code, and a crap load of settings to pretty much match what was coming out of my old Cura. The end result works with the old and new firmware and gives me access to lots ...

Is it safe to upgrade to Cura Lulzbot Edition 3.2.27?

I keep seeing threads in the Software section that the latest Cura runs slow or just does not work but nobody says it works fine for them. I noticed on the downloads page that it is recommended as an upgrade but it requires new firmware so it does not sound like going back is easy. I've been burned ...

Re: Skirt doesn't start printing until most of the way round

Some smart person (I don't recall who) told me the secret in Cura last year. Click the ... button after the Platform adhesion type in the Support section (on the Basic tab), then set Line count to 2 so you spew more filament before starting the real print. I was having problems with my small parts m...

Re: Print stopping

All the cool kids use a Raspberry Pi so that they can remotely control and monitor the printer. It will set you back about $40 to $50 (Pi + Power Supply + SD card). You can also add a USB camera for about $15 so you can watch the action while watching TV! Here are some words: https://forum.lulzbot.c...

Any guide on converting the Mini Tool Head V2 to V2.1?

From the pictures it looks like the changes are the bigger idler arm and a bigger fan on the heat insulator. I'm not sure which parts of the CAD files to print out but I have not looked that deep into it. I have questions: Are there other differences between V2 and V2.1? Does anyone have some before...

Re: mods for mini

Below are pictures of my very cheap "mod". I wait a day after I print and then put a hefty garbage bag over the printer to keep dust off of it. I take the filament off the arm and put it in the bag it came with along with the descant pack and set it on top of the printer inside the garbage bag. It d...

Re: Calibration and first layer problem

I think the misplaced [...] button behind "Platform adhesion type" dropdown does exactly what you want. These are the "skirt" settings and you can choose the number of loops (line count) or minimal skirt length (mm) and start distance, but that's not your problem. Thanks. I've been away from the fo...

Re: Calibration and first layer problem

I don't think you mentioned if filament started coming out a bit later during the first layer. I started messing with the Cura settings and found that if I change the "Initial layer thickness (mm)" from 0.425mm to 0.1mm when using a layer height of 0.18mm that nothing comes out of the nozzle when do...

Re: Newbie User Right out of the box test

That is a bummer. I'm guessing the auto-leveling failed. Did you happen to watch the machine touch each of the washers on the corners of the bed when it started up? People have had problems with it not touching one of the washers so it did not know where the bed really was. One common cause is the s...

Re: Lubricate / Oil locations ?

From the owners manual: http://download.lulzbot.com/Mini/1.01/documentation/Manual/Manual.pdf I was able to find the grease at Lowes. 4.3 Lead Screws Periodically, you will want to wipe down the threaded rods with a lithiumbased grease. Never use any petroleum based grease, which may compromise the ...
