Once you start printing, you can use the dial on the taz by the LCD screen to speed things up (or slow down) in (near) realtime. If you look at the start g-code, you will see it sucks up more before leveling than it extrudes back after leveling. IIRC I just made the values the same and it fixed it.

Sounds dumb, but have you tried googling around for a cad file of the grill? I've found stuff for my car. There might also be mechanical drawings around.

It doesn't show up in cura for the T6. You can adjust it through the T6 control panel. Configuration->Advanced Settings->Z-Offset. After you set it, you can permanently store it by backing out of the menu and clicking on save.
