Re: Can't install Cura on mint 19.1

An update to cura has broken the working install on Linux Mint 19.1 Cura now requires GLIBC_2.28, but Mint 19.1 only has version 2.27-3ubuntu1 Anyone know how to get GLIBC_2.28 installed on mint 19.1 in a way that won't break the rest of the system? As a work around, I installed slic3r from the soft...

Re: Can't install Cura on mint 19.1

I managed to get it installed.
'tessa' is the code name for the version of Mint I'm using, 'bionic' is the version of Ubuntu it is based on, and 'buster' is the version of Debian that 'bionic' is based on. So I tried 'buster', and that worked.

Can't install Cura on mint 19.1

I am attempting to install Cura on linux mint 19.1 but I am running into issues. I had it working on 18, but since I did a clean install of 19.1 I need to re-install Cura. $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list #deb cdrom:[Linux Mint 19.1 _Tessa_ - Release amd64 20181217]/ bionic contrib main non-free deb http...

Re: 7 Kg of plastic, and my X & Y linear bearings are warn out.

I have designed an adjustable bearing holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2974994 So far, the friction goes up to unacceptable levels before the play is eliminated (the play is mostly between the bearing and the holder at this point). I think if I fill the space between the bearing and the hol...

Cura 3.2.22 Print location

How do I adjust the 0,0 location of the printer? I adjusted the bed size settings to 300x300 the actual size of the bed. The only thing I will print all the way to the edge would be the skirt, so I'm not too worried about a bit of plastic going over the edge. When I make this change, the printed obj...

Re: 7 Kg of plastic, and my X & Y linear bearings are warn out.

I went and looked up the specifications of the bearing. The bearing has a tolerance on the shaft of 10 mm -0 +.04mm. The shaft measures 9.982mm The bearing is supposed to be 19mm in diameter, (no tolerance given). The diameter is different depending on where you measure it, but it is close to 19mm. ...

Re: 7 Kg of plastic, and my X & Y linear bearings are warn out.

Now that I have two sets of bearings, I'm thinking of running a hacksaw between the fins to cut the outside frame. Then print a set of modified mounts that allow me to squeeze out the play with a hose clamp. This would also allow me to tighten up the bearings as they wear. This would be a reasonable...

Re: Cura LE v3.2.11, Alpha Testing Discussion Thread

I found that if I import an object, then rotate it 45 degrees, delete it, and import another object, if I then set the angle to 0, it rotates the object 45 degrees.

Re: 7 Kg of plastic, and my X & Y linear bearings are warn out.

Update: I got the replacement bearings today. The new bearings have almost, but not quite as much play as the original, so Piercet is right. At least the lesson I learned was rather inexpensive. I am very surprised to find equipment like this with as much designed in play as this one has. If this we...

Re: 7 Kg of plastic, and my X & Y linear bearings are warn out.

Those bearings are designed to be press fit into a housing with a preload. The 3d printed parts cant take that much force. The usual way to get a better contact pattern is to loosen the bearing holders and move them onboard or outboard until play is reduced. You can also change to other setups. If ...
