Re: High Speed TAZ4.5

Did you ever take a temperature reading on the stepper motors to see how hot they were actually getting?

Re: Z-Hop settings Taz5

If your nozzle is dragging through the first layer of a print, that sounds more like your end stop on your z axis is set too low. If you are getting scratches and scars on your top layer, that is something that can be offset with z hop. Z hop only works after a retraction when the nozzle is travelin...

Re: Taz 5 Hotend problem, please help

I did the same as the above two posters and removed my nozzle. Acetone does work on hips, but it's very slow. I soaked my nozzle for a week and although the outside surface looked clean, I still had some kind of obstruction on the inside. What finally worked for me was holding the nozzle with the ne...

Re: ROUGH PRINTS>?? weird...

Is there any other reason to change brands of filament other than price? I have only had the printer for a month and have only used the Lulzbot filaments, HIPS to be exact. I was looking online at the filament on Amazon just to see what was getting good reviews and might be a bit cheaper. I wanted t...

Re: Questions about replacement nozzles

Thanks Mike. I'm glad that you had the answer, I didn't want to specifically ask you, because you field a lot of questions. You seem to be becoming our resident guru. Also thanks for the clarity on extruder calibration. You're right I did have it confused as to what exactly it did. I'm willing to ha...

Questions about replacement nozzles

When my nozzle was jammed with hips about a week ago and it didn't seem like I was going to get it unclogged, I ordered some new nozzles. I did a google search for .35mm hexagon hotend and what came up was the Maker Farm site. But all they had was .4 mm and .3 mm nozzles for 3 mm filament. I ordered...

Re: Taz 5 Hotend problem, please help

My batch # is 2014-10-31-1. I was printing when I read your post and could'nt remove the reel. Interestingly enough I had never really paid attention to the label before. It actually has a listed temperature of 220-260 celsius for printing. I was under the assumption that 230 was a minimum temperatu...

Glad you are starting to get things sorted out. That really is a very nice first layer on those pics that you posted.

Re: Taz 5 Hotend problem, please help

That's funny. Because all I've used since I've had my Taz is the black hips from the Lulzbot website. I don't know if there's a problem with this particular one or just a coincidence. I will probably try abs once my hips runs out though.

New Taz 5 Owner 3 Weeks In

Ok, it's been about 3 weeks roughly since I got my Taz5 in the mail. I ordered this printer mainly due to build volume and cost. I originally wanted an Ultimaker 2, simply because this was my first foray into 3d printing and my first printer, I wanted the printer to be as user friendly and easy to u...
