Re: Licensing the Hardware under an Open Source License

The budaschnozzle at least is licensed under the Creative Commons - Share Alike license.
Also, many of the older parts are on github.

Re: My Z endstop is acting up again

Have you tried homing the Z axis before doing this?
Most firmware seem to treat your bootup position as home until you home the machine, so you may not be able to move down at first, but up would work.

Re: Very inconsistent z-level homing

You can change the amount that the firmware retracts after it hits home the first time in Configuration_adv.h. You would change #define Z_HOME_RETRACT_MM 1 to something higher like #define Z_HOME_RETRACT_MM 5 Also note that materials will expand when heated. Your nozzle position at room temperature ...

Re: Heat set inserts...

In the TK-0 openscad files I used a 4mm diameter which when printed was a little small. I would think 4.5-5mm would work well.

Re: TAZ Y-Axis Failure

Although I haven't figured out *why* this happened, I believe the fact that I printed the part at 40% infill didn't help at all. I wasn't using the standard belt clamps as I had issues with the inserts pulling out of the holes, so I used some zip ties to fasten the belt. http://gannon.portablesofdoo...

Re: Switching to PLA from ABS

As far as I know PLA does not print well on PET. Other printing surfaces for PLA are Kapton, bare glass, blue painters tape, and bare acrylic.

TAZ Y-Axis Failure

My print was going well so left it unattended for a little while, came back to quite a surprise. I still haven't done an investigation to find out the exact reason for the failure, but the belt clamp was actually ripped off the Y-plate and then torn in half. After looking at the part I was printing ...

Re: Hot end heating problem

Well, it could have been heated by the current passing through the connector (IIRC those are rated fro 1-2 amps), or it could have been heated externally (from the hotend).
I'm not sure which, but unless the connector was really close to the hotend I would guess the former.

Re: Hot end heating problem

Do you get any errors reported? Can you move any of the axes? I can only think of 3 main parts that could cause this issue. Wiring being the most common I have dealt with. 1) Thermistor issue (Wiring issue, damaged thermistor) 2) Heater issue (Wiring issue, damaged resistor / heater cartridge) 3) Po...
