Re: Cura2-2.2.1-master (mac)

Thanks, Brent. I'm just nosing around with Cura 2 for my own curiosity. The kids aren't going to see it until after the full version is out. How does M565 differ from M851, which is what I had been using when I wanted to set the Z offset in firmware? (Not as convenient for temporary changes or troub...

Re: Cura2-2.2.1-master (mac)

It was very handy to have the setting in Cura when troubleshooting print adhesion. I did not have to remember any g-codes, just enter the adjustment in the machine settings. It was also nice because I could show the teacher and/or a couple of trusted kids in the class where I volunteer where the adj...

Re: Cura2-2.2.1-master (mac)

Does Cura 2.x lose the ability to tweak z-offset (without resorting to entering g-codes)? I can't find it anywhere. Normally, I do set this by entering G-codes to modify what is stored in the Mini, but the ability to adjust in Cura was handy when dialing things in, or if I needed a quick minor tweak...

Re: Calibration Cube Usege?

Have you already calibrated your z-steps? I was overextruding and found I had to bump mine down a bit from what was shipped form the factory. Even after I dialed that in as closely as I could using the "extrude 100 mm test" I found I still need to knock a few % off the flow rate to avoid over-extrud...

Re: Minimal laptop to run a Mini w/Cura?

We're moving ahead with a Raspberry Pi 3 and OctoPrint. I've had the Pi/OctoPrint up and running on my home network, but without the Mini attached, so testing has been limited. I'm headed over to the school later today to test it out with the class. The one question left in my mind is whether their ...

Re: Newbie wants to know how to get to CURA on a Mac

Do you have to go through the JPEG step? Rather than a series of JPEG images, why not just scan it in a 3D scanner?

Re: Nozzle Clog -- Help!

If you haven't already looked, I-T-Works (https://itworks3d.com/) may have spare new or refurbished tool heads. I bought one for the school where I'm helping out. They carbonized some PLA in the hot end on one of their first prints. A couple of the 5 & 6 grade kids did the tool head replacement foll...

If they are ngen, does that mean the gcodes are optimized for ngen as well? I've never printed with it, so done know what the differences might be between it and ABS

Re: Broken filament tension roller support

FOr best results, print your spare parts using the downloadable g-code, rather than the STL, and use ABS filament (I believe Lulzbot uses the Village Plastics ABS for their parts, and the g-code is reportedly optimized for that).

Re: First prints with Slic3er and Pronterface....

The default E-steps in the mini firmware is 833. Most people find that is a bit high, which contributes to some over-extrusion. Here's a link to a Lulzbot calibration procedure: https://ohai.lulzbot.com/project/extruder_calibration/calibration/ That is written for the Taz, but most of the process i...
