Re: When to replace the nozzle

I too would appreciate some guidance on this issue. Even more useful would be how to test/determine that a nozzle needs replacement. As documented in other threads, I'm struggling with a Mini whose filament always (within the first layer, in fact) attaches to the nozzle and then drags around, destro...

Re: Lulzbot Mini requires huge maintenance

Thanks for the response. I agree oozing or dribbling is often caused by the printhead temperature being too high. Setting aside the fact that this is the same filament we've always used, I've been slowly lowering the temperature trying to address it. I'm now down to 200C when the label on the spool ...

Re: Lulzbot Mini requires huge maintenance

I agree, the Mini requires a ton of attention. Meanwhile, my associates who went with other brands have zero complaints. I've printed lots of things on this machine. At first it worked fine. But the deterioration is ridiculous, it's like trying to keep a Yugo running. A low-quality Yugo. I've had to...

Re: (Probably) Basic questions about printing w/ PLA and Nylon

Regards over extruding. First off are you measuring your filament and putting the value into cura? This is VERY important to getting a nice print, it doesn't take it being far off to cause issues. Yep, with professional dial calipers. Multiple measurements in multiple places, averaged, and entered....

Re: Nozzle temperature consistently lower than setting...

I saw something kind of like this on my Mini a while back, but I suspected it was due to a bit of melting on the part cooling fan duct. Try disabling the cooling fan and see if that helps. We're printing nylon, so the larger cooling fan is already disabled. The printhead cooling fan is running, of ...

Re: Nozzle temperature consistently lower than setting...

I'd suggest updating to the latest Cura from Lulzbot downloads -- 21.03. It will have all the latest Lulzbot-provided profiles, and the latest firmware if you want to flash it (and I recommend you do). Basically an up-to-date version of what was provided on the USB stick that came with the printer....

Re: (Probably) Basic questions about printing w/ PLA and Nylon

Thanks for your response! If the nozzle is pushing the corner down, it is not detecting the leveling washer properly. Be sure your nozzle is clean - same goes for the washers. Yep, I discovered that really, REALLY cleaning the nozzle eliminates the excessive force on the first corner of bed leveling...

Re: Nozzle temperature consistently lower than setting...

What version of Cura? PC or Mac? Win7, running Cura V19.08. This was the version included on the USB stick with the Mini. I haven't tried later versions, yet. Do you have any other control software to try? I am considering grabbing a copy of Slic3r to see what happens there. I haven't dug into how ...

Re: Nozzle temperature consistently lower than setting...

Starting the print process at -10 from target is normal. The initial heatup of the extruder is done with a "M109 Rxxx" command, which "waits" (meaning firmware won't accept further commands) until it reaches the target temperature. However, there are parameters in the firmware build that define a "...

Nozzle temperature consistently lower than setting...

We have a brand new Mini and we're gaining experience with it. Using the included Cura slicer software on Win7. The nozzle temperature seems to have a selective calibration problem. When we set the temperature in Cura's manual window (where you can manually "set" the nozzle and bed temperature), the...
