blobs and partial skirt?

I have a AO-101 The skirt always seems to be missing the first 100mm or so and almost always ends up with a "booger" trailing the nozzle that gets drug across the center of the skirt. In addition the nozzle seems to always create a "booger" that gets stuck in the part. I've tried extruding a bit and...

PrintRun GUI question

Hi, When I hit set buttons to turn on the nozzle and board heaters it displays something like: 25:230,25:100@54 where the @54 changes, but apparently randomly up/down. Maybe it's obvious, but, I don't get what this indicates and I've not been able to find it in the docs or on the web. What am I miss...

Re: General questions for new 3D printer users

I think it is best working in mm. Slic3r can scale parts but STL is a polygonal (mesh) format . Surfaces are made of polygons rather that smooth surfaces. If you scale an imperial model by 25.4 in Slic3r to get it from inches to mm I guess the polygons will be scaled as well. You will get a much le...

Re: Printing upside down and shaking it all around

Yes, of course, .1mm is pretty small. And yes, it is a hobby machine, it is sitting next to my Bridgeport mill... so my lulzbot does have a size envy issue. ;) Since I intend to be making things that move and fit together, I want to understand the limits. The limits aren't terribly important for mak...

Re: Printing upside down and shaking it all around

Ok, so I got my printer and am now playing. :D I have now adjusted the filament diameter to match the filament that came with the machine and set extruson multiplier = .9 (the default is 1). This produces parts that are about .1mm larger than the model. (Before changing the above settings I was .3mm...

Re: Printing upside down and shaking it all around

AFAIK zero perimeter means all the printer will be doing is infill. There will be no exterior or interior walls. That's not really what you want. Thing is, all the config files I see have the perimeter bumped up, the lulzbot file sets it to 150%. I thought that was only the first layer that was set...

Re: Printing upside down and shaking it all around

Yes that sort of thing. I printed some gears on a Replicator 2 and the size was off to the point they wouldn't mesh and the center to center distance was off. Since then while waiting for delivery of my lulzbot, I've confirmed that the Blender model and the stl file are the correct dimensions. I the...

Re: Printing upside down and shaking it all around

Not a question about printing upside down...but, what adjustments either to the model or to Slic3r settings do you need to do when making close fit parts.

Like gears or clam shell type items that need to fit together.

Re: Ongoing post of my 3D Prints with an AO-100

Do need to make adjustments for things that need exact size?

Say for the battery holder or the gears. Do you need to change setting in Slic3r or re-size the model for correct for close tolerance fits?
