# Can you use Cold Acetone Vapor Smoothing on HIPS?

I know this is used mainly on ABS but can it be used on HIPS as well?

Yeah you can! Here was my first attempt long ago.

I don’t remember how much acetone I used or how big my container was. Just make sure to check on it every half hour or so and take it out when it is about 80% as smooth as you want it because it keeps smoothing after you take it out of the vapor.
