I ended up pre assembling the bolt in the hole with the nut on the back then slid it in from the bottom. I’ll consolidate all my tips once I’m done. I’m having a bit of z binding from the open rail z axis mounts not being perfectly parallel to lead screw. I need to figure that out

The m5x12 are socket heads for holding the motor lid to the mount. I think 15mm will be to long.

First print is currently underway. Had to re redo the bottom wedge plate that the extruder mounts into. There is a bit of slop in mine now with the new mount. Overall impressions, definitely worth the investment of time and money. Learned a few things along the way also. I still have several bugs to work out and I need to redo the extruder backplate again to get the belts to sit better. I’ll post the file when it’s done.

I’d like to see (I may take this on myself) a few tweaks to standardize the screws used, ie 10mm, 12mm, 15mm. Some simple tweaks of thicknesses should do the trick. I had to cut several screws to length since I didn’t have the proper ones on hand.

Printing impress are initially very good. There is absolutely no resonance in the X or Y directions. And it seems as those the Z backlash has ben taken care of also, even though I did NOT use the anti-backlash mounts.

Top is open rails, bottom is linear rods

That’s pretty sweet. I’m actually looking at building a new printer from scratch and going the V-slot route for all 3 axis. That picture definitely makes me more confident it use their rails and wheels over rods and linear bearings.

It would appear there is a still a bit of Z lash. Not near as bad as before but it is noticeable on taller parts.

Yeah, I think its due to plate flex on the x endplates. Adding additional reinforcing bars to the x rail didn’t seem to help. The anti wobble does help with that a bit. Next step would be moving the z rail to the x rail end, but that would be a bit of reengineering.
