I have made a few mods to my Taz 5 and would like to try the new firmware out with Cura2. Besides with a hex editor how can I edit the firmware? Is there a way to convert the hex to something Arduino can do? Something like a hex to .ino? I google searched some but could not find anything that really answered or showed a pathway to convert.

a .hex file is a compiled firmware. THere is no easy way (or really no way period that I know of) to decompile a compiled firmware. You are better off going from the base files from the lulzbot or github repositories.
