What is the difference between normal pla and silk pla? Does it has more beautiful luster?
It’s PLA with some elastomers in it. They don’t completely melt, so they stretch like pizza cheese and give it a directional sheen along the layer lines.
The first layer is sometimes a little more tricky, but otherwise silk PLA is pretty easy to work with. I’m running three printers right now with Matterhacker’s Build line of silk PLA.
I like your metaphor! I heard that the printing speed of silk pla is lower than that of Normal pla.
