# Help with continuity test

Hello everyone,
I am having a problem with my mini 2.
It was working fine, with no problems. Suddenly this happened:
Wen starting a print, when the nozzle comes down and is supposed to touch the first washer, it goes down beyond the washer and the printer fails, it says “Probing failed, printer halted.”
I already cleaned it like crazy. but this doesn’t seem to be the problem. I was reading and saw that a continuity test is recommended, but I have no clue on how todo that. I would appreciate any help and advice.

So it hits the washer and doesn’t stop?
Do you know how to use a multimeter and have no clue how to do a continuity test? or do you just not know where to check on the Mini 2?

That’s correct. This nozzles reaches the washer and doesn’t stop, like if it is missing the signal.
And I do know how to use a multimeter, but I have no clue where to begin checking continuity.

Ok. Start with the simplest - nozzle to the ring terminal, while at 180-200c. Touch the metal of the terminal, not the hex screw. If you don’t get this one, or it’s not solid, you may have not installed the nozzle correctly, and it’s kinda floating in charred or liquid plastic, getting some connection when pushed just right.
Next, let it cool off, power off the machine and nozzle to the tool side of the harness. Follow the red wire from the ring terminal that wraps around the other wires. Inspect the pin. It’s not uncommon for these pins to get shoved to the side so they don’t actually go inside the female pin on the other side, giving an intermittent or non-connection. Hopefully you have a thin probe for your multimeter, otherwise poke with a loose wire.
If it’s still reading a good connection, plug the harness in and check for continuity on the back side of the female harness.
If it’s still reading ok, check under the bed for any broke wires or connections that have lost their locknuts.
After that, all that’s left is to open up the control box and check at the ZMIN connector:
Check nozzle to the ZMIN plug then check the other side of the ZMIN plug to the bed washer. While checking the washer to ZMIN, give the cords a bit of a wiggle.
