To update in case anyone finds this later. I have been playing with octoprint and the RasPi cam.

Octoprint lets you send any M/gcode to your printer (even during a print). So you could stop the print with Mcode if you want right through a web browser or phone (I am hoping to set it up on the phone at least, i need to figure out port forwarding still) then I am hoping to control it too on my xbox one in the other room.

Anyway, Just the webcam feature alone is slick.
