Automated Build Platform

Hey,

I recently came across the MakerBot Thing-O-Matic and I was wondering if Lulzbot has considered doing this or if it’s in development or anything like that.

It’s an automated build platform that allows you to print multiple parts all in series without intervention between parts. It seems like the next logical step for the technology so I was curious where Lulzbot was at with this.

I thought about doing something similar with my first Prusa, but with all the complaints of first layer adhesion issues I decided to use multiple glass plates that I could just switch out after a print. Most of my prints fill the bed and take 8-14 hours, so I’m around the printer at least once a day, keeping in mind that I never leave my printer unattended, for safety reasons…

That’s fair. I was wondering how the adhesion was on those. I may have to try multiple glass plates. That seems like a quick and easy way to get started on a new part right after another has finished.

The MakerBot automated build platform doesn’t work. I don’t think there are even any videos of it working. They do have a patent on it too, or something similar.

Emmet Lalish (the guy always coming up with awesome things like the gear bearing) updated his TOM’s ABP and it is apparently working properly.
