Is there a different from using mean well power supply to say some other that way cheaper?
I could get a 500w 24v 27amp power supply for around $30 plus shipping, mea well power supply is more around $90 shipped. Why one over the other?
Short answer… The meanwell units do not fail as frequently as the less expensive ones do.
Yup, the Meanwell units are solid. Cheap power supplies often use cheap components, and some manufacturers cheat on their power rating (the 500 watt cheap PSU may actually be a 350 watt that can spike to 500, etc.) . In your case with a Taz 3 power supply, those units are actually really solid so you can probably hold off on upgrading unless it is giving you issues.
