Anyone tried FilaFlex?

Has anyone tried any of this FilaFlex stuff yet?
http://recreus.com/

It looks like an interesting material to work with, but it’s a little on the expensive side.

We have some, but couldn’t get it to print after a quick test. We haven’t spent much time on it yet. I think 1013 got it working with his TAZ. The developer of the filament uses a Budaschnozzle as you can see on his website, so that is encouraging.

Nope, that was Eco flexPLA https://forum.lulzbot.com/t/anyone-try-the-flex-ecopla/114/1 I have not tried the filaflex…but it seems more felxible than the flexPLA…might have to try it later.

We Just got FilaFlex to print fairly well with a modified extruder body (idlerless!). The extruder body has a 5mm PTFE tube pressed down the filament path, so it’s fully constrained in x&y. I’ll keep you updated on the performance of the extruder and the filaflex itself

Check it out:

Thanks for the update bam - that looks like it’s coming along excellently. The 5mm PTFE tube isn’t the same one used in the Budaschnozzle 2.0 is it?

It actually is the same tubing we use to line the upper part of the Buda2.0, I was wrong about the size (we tried the 5mm tube used to feed the filament first). It’s 0.125" ID, 0.250" OD PTFE tubing, and you’ll be needing 2.5"(~6cm) of it. I’m putting together a BOM and some rough assembly instructions, look for that at http://devel.lulzbot.com/filament/thermoplastic_urethane/ early next week.

happy printing

I occasionally have an issue, usually self inflicted, where I get my starting layer height wrong, try to print, and end up stripping a chunk of filliament on the hobbed bolt. Some way to unbolt and remove a section of the side of the hobbed bolt chamber for cleaning purposes would be a useful design addition if you get a chance to add that. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who does that sometimes heh. If you want I can try and make something along those lines once you have the design working the way you want it to.

Interesting, I’m going to have to test this.

I know this is an old thread, but I did a comparison review of FilaFlex and FlexEcoPLA over on 3D print board
