Unraveling Spool

Hi,

I a using a Lulzbot Mini printing with a Bridge Nylon. Some of my prints last about 4 to 5 hours as I am printing rocket parts for model rocketry. I am finding that as the print proceeds, the filament unravels off the spool, getting wrapped around the spool holder, and in some cases, preventing the filament from advancing into the printer. About every hour or so I have to rewind the spool to prevent this from happening. Has anyone come up with a solution for this?

Since I have a 6" bed, I’m thinking about printing to side discs for the spool, to extend the spool diameter to prevent the unraveling.

Use a roller type spool holder. When the spool sits own the rollers, it prevents the filament from getting out of the spool walls.

When the spool gets to 50%, switch back to your regular spool holder. The spool gets too light and can fall off the rollers.
