Was doing a print with my taz 5 and noticed that the x/y axis steppers where pretty warm. Using an IR thermometer I get the following on each stepper.
X: 65C
Y: 65C
Z1: 45C
Z2: 45C
extruder: 55C
Just curious if this is normal.

From the specs for the steppers:
they can run at 100 °C!
So they can and will run hot, but unless you are over-driving your printer they should be fine. Or you have it in a really hot enclosure, that will not allow sufficient cooling of the steppers.
