Taz 4 3 Point Bed Mounting

Post by underdog1924 » Sat Jul 09, 2016 9:30 am

Has anyone modded their Taz for a 3 point bed mounting system? It makes sense that leveling 3 points would be easier than 4. I'd be interested to hear what people have come up with.

As long as the bed is flat 3 points would be easier. As long as you can put your sensor/dial indicator right over the top of the adjustment points. I prefer a dial indicator but then I have been indicating stuff in on CNCs for 35 years.
But if the sub frame is stiff enough more points give you the ability to tweek the bed a little.

With a glass or aluminum bed plate, you get a small amount of flex in the corners on an unsupported 3 point no corner support setup. I think you would need a thicker, heavier bed to eliminate it entirely. It's not much, we're talking 0.01mm, but it is noticeable if you are looking for it.
