Great. And don't hesitate to ask questions.

what price range should I expect from an ebay us seller on the rods? I am not finding any in stock US or otherwise, and mcmaster has them for $15/each (Seems high).

I went with McMaster for mine, as I couldn't find any on eBay either (not in 500mm/19") . Wasn't able to find much cheaper and I was also able to pick up a few other parts there aswell.

I paid $15.each for mine ion eBay and they were 19" long. Perfect for X and Z but 5mm too short for Y. McMaster sounds like a good deal for 500mm rods.

So I have all of the materials in. I am looking to do the upgrade this weekend.
Do you suggest lubricating the bearings/rods? If so, will the same white lithium grease used for the Z axis lead screws work for the bearings?

Also, For anyone's reference, Here are my US based sources:

1. bearings: JSB Bearings in Ann Arbor, MI:

2. hardened steel rods from mcmaster:

A little light machine oil is what I used.

To answer my own question again. It is definitely okay to use white lithium grease:

I still like to use light oil on ball bearing linear guides. Grease is tacky and picks up grime and small particles of filament, etc. It doesn't take a lot of lubricant, just a few drips INSIDE the ball bearing guides and that's it.

Good point, I dont need another place on my printer that can pick up cat hair.

I will probably go with 3 in 1 at Lowe's.

I am starting my upgrade today. I am starting with the Y axis.

question: Did you add dampers to the Z axis steppers as well? Seems like they might be a little more of a pain, but I am saving those for later (doing the Y now).

Also, for now I am using the small screws that came with the dampeners to attach the damper to the motor, then using the Lulzbot screws (2 of the 4) to attach the dampener+motor to the frame. That looks like what you did from the pictures. The black marks on the dampers are facing up (away from the motor). Let me know if that is wrong. Thanks
