Missing layers after pause

This issue seems to happen fairly often when I try to pause and later restart a print. Sometimes, it looks like the alignment gets slightly off when restarting, and sometimes it looks like the printer is not extruding right away so there are a few missing layers. Any ideas what could be causing this or how to fix it? I’m using Cura and 3mm PLA filament.

If this is a manual pause and resume I don’t know exactly how to help.

If you want to encode the pause in gcode however I shamelessly plug my “pause at Layer plugin” for Cura: https://forum.lulzbot.com/t/cura-20-pause-at-layer-plugin/4028/1 It has code for slower print, less fan and more extrusion on resume layer. All of which may help adhesion of the resume layer.

It is a manual pause, unfortunately–I’m hitting the Pause button in Cura and then the Resume button. It seems like it keeps the printer up to temperature so I’m not sure why it has trouble resuming.
