Lucile Erwin Middle School in Loveland, Colorado is an International Baccalaureate school where Jacob Marshall instructs TED classes. His classes, along with many at the school, are heavily focused on design thinking - a crucial concept that guides the students to become 21st century learners and entrepreneurs. 3D printing creates an opportunity for Marshall’s students to rapidly prototype and produce functional and useful designs. Watch the video in this article that shows a 3D printed Short Course Truck that the students researched, designed, and manipulated into a successful end product.

Marshall notes that many students consider engineering paths for their future upon completion of these highly sought after classes. He suggests that other schools consider the “meaningful learning experience” that this opportunity has given him.
