I installed it as a part of a combo upgrade on my Taz5.
This include the beefier extruder, dual filament cooling fans and the bigger hot-end fan.
It also has some support for auto-levelling. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1149597
Hmmm - on the Taz5 there is a 5v, always on line on the extruder which is used for the crappy squirrel cage fan you are replacing. This is what I used. I connected the new fan to the same line that was powering the old one. Both fans are 5v so it was a direct replacement.
Now the wiring can be a bit of a rabbit hole. I made a new connector for the new fans. This involved connector pins, a crimper and the connector itself. The filament cooling fans are 24v so make sure you get the same type or you’ll need to do some additional wiring. I used 12v Noctuas and had to step the voltage down with a Zener diode.
Here are some additional links for these various extra bits -
Zener Diodes to drop 24v to 12v http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet … 3-1N5919BG
Mouse Part Number: 863-1N5919BG"
Connect two zener diodes in series. Make sure the band marked on both diodes faces the same way. Connect the lead with the band to the positive lead (usually a red wire).
Now, since the two reverse-biased zener diodes drop 12V, the voltage between the other side of the diode pair and ground (usually a black wire), will be 12V.
Now connect your fans in parallel to that. They will see 12V.

Have you had any heat creep problems with PLA running that 5V Noctua? I installed one and didn’t get enough airflow to prevent heat creep jams when running PLA parts with low flow volumes.
I printed a bit of PLA over the holidays recently without any issues.
The pieces were small (largest took around 6 hours) so I can’t say it’s perfect, but I haven’t had any problems so far.
I know people say that the “squirrel cage” or “hairdryer” type of fans are the best, but the larger box fans seem to work OK for me.
I can’t imagine much being worse than the tiny stock one.
I have a taz 2 that I have completely modified, therefore, I still have the extremely old version plug connectors. That’s ok because I also built my own to convert to the new hot end. There is no 5v on my connectors.
I still would like to know the correct spot to connect the fan on the Rambo board?
First, the 5v blower fan (since I have one). Does that power need to be a constant 5? Is this fan always spinning if the machine is on?
I already use this port to power my filament cooling fan. my filament cooling fan is also 12v.
Every time i try to test this aux connctor a blow a fuse on the rambo.
Can you answer my question, all fans spinning at the same time? Or does the chamber cooling fan run at 100% always…

If you have 12 Volts on that connector you have a really old RAMBo(1.1 or older) and are running a 12 volt printer with no 24 volts to use for the heat cartridge that comes with the hexagon.

I have no idea how to check what version of RAMBo I have, but my machine is defiantly very old. I got it when Taz was crowdfunding for the Taz 2.
This stupid 5v fan will not spin! I updated the firmware and everything. my Best option would b to print a replacement 12V mod for the carriage?
Just a note, if you have plugged a 5 volt fan into a 12 volt line the fan is more than likely dead and will not spin again.
You will have to plug a 12 volt fan in to get it to work. It is possible to use a 24 volt fan and it may spin at half speed but that is uncertain.
I have a 24V system and I ended up hooking up a 24V fan for my filament cooling fan. I cant figure out how to turn it on now. The M106 P1 F255 command turns the 2 side fans on instead of my “second extruder fan” with the Taz 5 Firmware. The Taz 4.1 firmware lets me use M106 to turn it only the one fan on. Its pretty noisy and dont want to hear it on all the time that the machine is on.
Where else on the board can i connect a 24V fan that can be turned on with Gcode?
