not able to print a file

Having issues printing a file
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/geiod-model.stl
I can open it in Cura 21.00 and can see the file but won’t print correctly.
I can not open it in Cura 3.2.32. Keep getting errors “Scaling Object, Auto scaled object to 100000% of original size”.
I can print other things that I created or downloaded just not the file above.

TAZ 6

Thanks for any help or solution.
Alan

The model is non-manifold and can not be auto repaired by Cura.

Hi there,

I had the same problem with Creality Print, it loads the file but nothing is there.

The model is literally like 1 pixel on the screen so it can’t be seen.

I scaled it to 10,000+ and then I could see it. Then I saved the STL as a new file. Then I opened it again and scaled it another 1000% so it became about the size of a baseball.

Printed fine with no supports or bed adhesion, 20% infill.

Thanks for giving the idea the file was just scaled really small… It did have some portions that needed to be repaired by Creality but many STLs have these issues, although this was the first that loaded so small it couldn’t be seen in the software.

For future reference, I was able to fix the original .stl file with MeshMixer. The file will then load in Cura 21.08 and CuraLE 4.13.0. CuraLE 3.2 through CuraLE 3.6 claim to autoscale the model but fail to load it. I exported the file in CuraLE 4.13.0 and it can now load into CuraLE 3.6.37.
