AO-10x x-carriage mod

These are awesome. You guys rock. How’s the integrated belt tensioner work?

I eventually changed that design back to a 4 bearing one. The offset wasn’t enough to prevent dipping, and there just isn’t enough room in the midle with the gap required for quickfit to get the third bearing centered. The final design is here:

The integrated belt tensioner works great, especially mounted to the heat set inserts. The belt angle ends up perfect throughout the travel range, I can crank the belt tension up to rediculous levels, and it’s still easy to take things apart for service. I was worried that the heat set inserts would migrate over time, but they have actually held up better than the bolt arrangement I had on the previous one did.

The extra carriage mass was worth it for the stability I gained, which helped with edge definition a bit.

I definitly reccommend the integrated belt tensioner.

I made one of these since I think I had a bad bearing and it seems to be working good so far.

glad to hear it
