This is the BOM:

According to it, you are looking at $394.88 plus your labor of putting it together. Pretty pricey, but I’m seriously considering going for it.

I have a cheaper alternative myself. I will be posting plans soon. A few printed parts, one $30 sheet acrylic for front, one $18 4’x8’ sheet .5" aluminum foil clad foamboard cut up, and metal tape. Its industrial looking but very functional. The fan vent is on the outside which was my big goal.
I apologize for reviving an old thread. But this seems to be the best one with info on building the Cat Guard. I’ve received a quote from Misumi of $155.34 for the hardware. But I’m having troubling sourcing the acrylic.
I checked with my local glass company and they quoted me $10/sqft which comes out to around $240 for all the pieces.
The OP mentioned Port Plastics - which is also listed on the BOM - but I couldn’t find information about shipping from Port Plastics. The BOM quotes around $150 for the acrylic. Any ideas on how I could source the acrylic online?
Do you have a Tap Plastics locally in the area? They should have it there. Home Depot or Lowes also should carry Acrylic panels that are large enough.
Thank sounds about right for the acrylic. Not sure what the BOM lists, but 1/8" should be fine for the enclosure if a frame is built for support. Home Depot and Lowes carry pre-cut sheets, but they may be a little undersized if I recall correctly. You could substitute pink foam board or MDF to bring the costs down a bit… only the front really needs to be acrylic for monitoring of prints.
There are good ideas for enclosures on Thingiverse that don’t require the 2020 extrusion.
The BOM lists 5 sheets of 6mm Acrylic. 4 of them require a corner cut. The 2 places I called locally wanted $10/sqft (1 was $9.50/sqft). They end up costing about $90 more then the BOM quoted price of $147 from Port Plastics.

Saramos made a nice alternative enclosure with just acrylic and printed hinges. Its posted here:

He lists the minimal dimensions in the first post. I believe the 24 1/4" can be reduced to a more standard 24" if part of the electronics compartment is outside of the enclosure.
kcchen_00 - that is a nice enclosure, he has the electronics protruding through the side. I assume for cooling. The Cat Guard has a vent cover, but I’m not sure of their intention.
I noticed the directory for the Cat Guard include a vent_cover.stl, but the instructions here do not include it https://ohai.lulzbot.com/project/cat_guard/
Vent cover files are here: https://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/cat_guard/
Anyone used this vent cover in their Cat Guard?
Not sure of the vent cover either… It could be decorative, or it could adjust airflow from the outside. Regardless, its a good thing to provide the electronics box with cooler air.
