Javier Montiel, a teacher at Velasco Elementary School, demonstrates in this case study how LulzBot 3D printers can “help students who struggle with basic concepts in phonetics and increase their knowledge of syllables in the Spanish language.” Montiel shows how 3D printing can bring fun to a topic that he would have otherwise taught with “laminated bulky cards.” In the video at the bottom of the article, you can see how the “constructionist,” tactile alternative is an engaging learning experience.

“3D printing is a great way to materialize the needs and possibilities of educators like myself by allowing us to create with our hands our dreams and ideas in plastic,” Montiel said.
