Add my two cents on Simplify3D and a thumbs up for v3.0

It probably shouldn’t bother me but I don’t like how the visual representation of the supports in S3D is not really how they look in practice. The preview makes it look like separate columns which is not really how they print. Mine are basically like this as an overhead view of the first layer;

You’ve had S3D for a while now. With its built in Mini profile that keeps the cleaning and auto level are you still able to adjust all other settings and not loose the auto level and cleaning sequence? I know with Cura you have to load another profile in order to regain cleaning and levelling with full custom settings.

S3D lets you add gcode to the beginning and end of the print. You should be able to copy whatever gcode you like from other software you use.

Yep. All the settings should be independent of the Start Script on the G-Code tab. As long as you don’t touch the original script, the Mini startup sequence should remain intact.

I really like that! I am very interested in S3D and I will investigate it some more once I return home!

I used to use Simplify3D with my Makerbot Replicator 2X which I then sold off to get the TAZ 4. Simplyify 3D didn’t seem to work as well as CURA. After this recent update to v3.0 I have my Simplify3D tuned pretty well. For those having raft adherence issues, there is a setting where you can change the gap between the raft and your first layer of your object. I currently have this set to 0.19mm and the raft comes off a lot easier from my parts. I am going to tune it some more and then share the profile.
