mods for mini

The lower one is the fan, the upper one is the fan controller – it has an LCD display screen and keypad on the outside. (See the Amazon listing for a good photo.) It has multiple modes, but the one I use allows setting a target temperature, then it automatically controls the fan speed (off, low, med, high) as needed to stay below that temperature.

I’m sure it could, depending on the air flow, but I haven’t noticed any problems. I have the fan set to run only as needed to avoid the enclosure getting overheated – because I was worried about the environment adding too much temperature to the steppers (which get pretty warm even with room temp air around them).

Below are pictures of my very cheap “mod”. I wait a day after I print and then put a hefty garbage bag over the printer to keep dust off of it. I take the filament off the arm and put it in the bag it came with along with the descant pack and set it on top of the printer inside the garbage bag. It does not look pretty but it keeps the machine tidy and prevents the greasy screw rods from growing dust fur.

I designed a toolholder for all the tools which come along with the printer and a additional gluestick.

Pipe insulation! A thick foam tube, slit down its length, normally used to prevent water pipes from freezing during winter. It might be just big enough when cut to size and mounted on the spool holder to provide the tension needed to prevent excessive unraveling of the filament. It could also be too big, providing too much tension and cause the hobbed bolt to just grind away at the filament. It might work, it might not, but its worth a try.

Pipe insulation was just the first thing I thought of after reading your post.

I’m planning on doing a full Gladiola hardware upgrade for my mini. One thing i noticed with the new lower z-axis mounts is that YES they do make a heck of a difference with adding those vibration dampeners, but since i don’t have those long allen key wrenches that lulzbot has i had a heck of time with that front screw. And the screws i am using are a bit long and don’t have enough clearance inside the brass insert holes. So i have made my own mods to fix that. These are the two screw versions to match the vibration dampeners, but if anyone want’s or needs a 4-hole version let me know!

As mentioned in the user gallery forum I did a Mini filament cleaner that gently snaps onto the idler nut pockets on top of the extruder.
