Use the dial gauge holder that clips to your X-rods… no better way to get measurements so they can be reproduced every time you level the bed. For me, 18.5mm is the sweet spot for my bed leveling and Z-endstop.
Here’s my process:
- Home XY
- center the toolhead
- raise Z so dial guage(s) can be clipped on at the corners. I use two simultaneously at each corner.
- Zero dial gauges above bed
- Home Z. Don’t rehome XY, it will knock off the dial gauge
- Adjust corners to 18.5mm or whatever your dialed in z-home reads. Note - adjusting one corner will affect the other, hence two dial gauges.
- Move to back of bed. Repeat step 6.
- Move to the front of bed and re-check. It will be different after adjusting the back. Repeat step 6.
- Repeat 7 & 8 to your liking…
If you nailed the Z-height, I gaurantee you’ll have great prints following the above process with two digital dial gauges. ![]()
