Abs filament jammed

Hey all,

My nozzle is at 240c and some abs is drooling out so I know it’s at temperature. I can’t put my filament forward or pull it out with the idler clamp open.

Do I need to disassemble my print head? Suggestions?

Thanks
Jim

Measure the filliament diameter, If it is rediculously large you may need to use additional force to remove it.

I’ve been using the filament for a year. It’s 2.85mm. I’m pulling about as hard as I can. I don’t want to damage anything.

Can I take screws out and loosen the nozzle plate? It’s almost like there’s a bulge in the filament inside the head. It can’t go forward or back.

Yep, you’ll have to loosen the two screws on the bottom of the extruder… the second is blocked by the fan duct. Loosen them up so the hotend moves slightly. Heat up the hotend to 185C and pull the filament out… at least, it should come out.

Any chance your hot end overheated and carburized the filament? It wont melt out after that
