Here are a bunch of pictures from a Ciclop kit I put together today:
The kit includes a nice plastic screwdriver so you don’t accidentally your stepper driver trying to adjust the output
http://www.reddit.com/r/thatpeelingfeeling would like this kit
It seemed like the holes in the plexiglass plate and the holes in the printed part didn’t quite line up. There were some scary squeaking and cracking sound when I was tightening the mounting bolts and the printed part was flexing a bit as I tightened it. I was super careful and went slow and it seemed to work itself out.
Some of the printed parts have overhangs.
It took me a while to get the threaded rods flush to the ends of the printed parts, it was more difficult that I would have expected.
I’m not sure the stepper driver needs a heatsink that big, or at all.
More electronics photos
The scanner works way better if the line lasers are vertical, but there wasn’t anything about orientation in the assembly instructions.
The calibration plate was a little damaged in shipping, but it still seemed to work ok.
I need to find an inexpensive source for the electronics somewhere. I can print or source all the rest of the parts easily enough. Definitly looks like a neat little scanner!
Ya, we’re trying to figure out what to do about the electronics. Right now, BQ doesn’t ship to the USA (afaict), so you have to get the scanner from a UK reseller. Would be nice to have something in the US.
