Yes. When you get the heater block up to temp, the nozzle heats up pretty quick. I like using my fingers to feel the thread… You get 10-20 secs to start the thread before it gets too hot. If it happens just let the nozzle cool down and try again, no pressure.
Another best practice is to protect the print bed PEI and glass from dropped hot nozzles or heavy tools. I cover mine with silicone pad for protection against. Large locking forceps or vise-grips are nice to grab the nozzle while removing.
I’ve never seen nozzle blanks… But I’ve never really searched.
Get replacement / spare nozzles from MakerFarm. Having two minimizes downtime…
What I do on spark plugs to prevent cross threading when they are beyond fingers or to hot. I use a piece of rubber hose like used on fuel lines to hold the part and then screw in until finger tight. That way I have never in 62 years cross threaded a spark plug or other hard to hold object.
I reprinted my lever and idler, and used the fitting block… which cured several of my flow issues. Now I just need to reprint the gears on the extruder to get rid of the ticking noise from one tooth of the large herringbone gear.
I find some of the factory printed parts less than ideal, but I suppose they work until you can reprint them.
