Mike (aka bigkahuna), I have your kit ready to ship, just let me know when…

We had one order drop out, and I’m still waiting to hear from another person, so we have two extra kits lying around if anyone is interested, one of the kits will only be ready at a later date as our supplier sent us one wrong PSU…

thanks.
Jon-

I received my package today. I sent out the files to someone to get most of the pieces laser cut. Currently working on printing some parts out in PLA which will later be printed in ABS once I get the enclosure built.

Good stuff, glad it arrived ok. You should have gotten a sticker with it also… can’t wait to see the laser cut parts…

can you double check that your power supply is the right one and fits the AC chord properly? Thanks… we had some issues with our supplier sending the wrong psu’s…

Still have two kits left…if anyone is interested.

Got my kit today, shipping was insanely fast, especially coming from Canada! Working on printing the parts now, and getting the mdf tonight. Very excited to start building this!

Got my kit today as well! Packed nice and tight just like the others. Its going to be a week or two before I can get to it as I have a run of parts to get done first. Will post the complete box when I get it built up.

Sorry if I missed it, but what are you recommended print settings for this? I was thinking .1-.2mm with 100% does that sound right?

@ Anson, awesome, shipping WAS way faster than expected, especially all the way out to UT…pretty cool. Some people in NewYork got there’s over the weekend! Basically just four days.

Snap, forgot that they are just the .stl’s, I think I’ll attach the gcode files also come to think of it. Anyway, I did everything at .25" layer height with .35" nozzle… infill for basically all parts is 20-50%, I went with 80% for the brackets that hold the case to the floor just for some added security . To get started, I built the box and just used foam board as a temporary door (just stuck it on with some duct tape)…I printed pre printed the spool holder items in PLA and attached them temporarily to the box…once I was good and covered, I did all the ABS parts … you could also just start by covering with a cardboard box, or tarp and do all the ABS parts right off the bat, obviously there’s different ways to go about it.

@ Wants, awesome, glad to here it! For sure, I hope everyone posts there build progress here and on the facebook page.

I’ve been printing my parts in PLA with 0.28 layer height. 20-25% infill based on the part with 3 perimeters. I am going to be re-doing most, if no all, of them in ABS once the enclosure is built. I will most likely be using a smaller layer height higher infill too. This is just to save time and some filament.

Jon,
Got my kit on Monday, couldn’t believe how fast it arrived in Georgia! Everything arrived safely. Thanks buddy, can’t wait to get started!

hey Mike, ok awesome to hear that! Can’t wait to see how your build turns out!! be sure to share with us…!

Well i’ve successfully printed all the parts and have the mdf and wood and ready to go. Only problem is that I can’t find anyone that can bend a piece of acrylic for me. The one place I found can do it is 4 weeks out. Does anyone know somewhere online that I can order from?

Anson,

You’re pretty far out from neck of the woods so I’m not sure if I’d be much help other than suggesting to check your local yellow pages etc. on the east coast in the NY area there are bunch of plastic specialists, getting it fabbed and shipped though will probably add a little onto the cost. I’m sure there must be a plastics shop or distributor or sign shop in your nearest largest city…keep trying…

*UPDATES AND CORRECTIONS

Small update to the build instructions, on page 40 of the instruction manual with regards to installing the control panel, it said to use 4x M4x10mm screws for this, this is INCORRECT. Please use 4 of the M3x15mm screws and nuts. Thanks. I have uploaded the updated build instructions to the main file dump on GrabCad.

Thanks guys!
Jon-

I’m working on a build of the Hotbox. I’ve got the basic frame down, and am installing the rest of the panels and acrylic door soon. Jonathan has helped answer a few questions, but otherwise the instructions are pretty straightforward.

Look’n great Kal, don’t loose that bag of screws!! Keep us posted on the progress!

Just remember everyone, measure twice cut once…the more accurate you can be with your cuts and measurements, the better the end result.

I’m still waiting for my lasercut parts to come in. The cutter has a max dimension of 24" so I am having some of the pieces made into 2 with a dovetail which I can then seal.
