When trying to home in the Y axis, the printer hits the front and then the belt grinds. If I start the plate in the back, it will grind for a few seconds then stop. If the plate starts closer to the front it tends to halt the printer.
There is a limit switch below the plate and it seems to click ok when I touch it so it’s not stuck. Can anyone help with troubleshooting?
Also, I can hear the limit switch click before it starts grinding but the printer will still let me send the command to move it farther forward (resulting in the grind). I also opened the control side and tested the YMAX leads at the connector. The meter beeps when I push the switch.
It’s like the printer is just ignoring the signal.
Here’s a video showing the octo print output too.
Looks like a obvious limit switch failure to activate. Check that they’re still mounted and functional. They’re under the bed:
Verify that the switch isn’t broken from a mount, and that it can reach its contact point, and that it’s wired up.
Tonight I took it all apart. The switch is fine but the wire had intermittent cutouts! I ran a new pair of wires for the switch and I’m back in business. I wasn’t able to squeeze it into the loom so I ziptied it to the outside… Not sure how long it will last but at least now I know how to fix it.
I also noticed that one of the other limit switches plugged into the controller had a broken tab and was almost disconnected. I slopped some hot melt on them while I had it all open.
