After some repairs in the last few weeks I printed a couple of 2 hour parts last night and they were perfect. I tried printing those exact parts today with no changes. The first 20-30 layers were great then the filament stopped feeding. Lots of cleaning but no progress finding the problem. Frustrating…
Possibly a thermistor problem? Any advice would be appreciated.
What happens that stop the feeding? Grinding filament? jammed nozzle? stepper motor not moving?
20-30 layers is is usually a heat creep problem, but could be steppers/stepper driver overheating as well. Was it cooler in the printer area when it worked? a few degrees is the difference between heat creep being manageable or a point of failure.
Could also build up in the nozzle.
Is there anyone who could repair my printer? A number of years ago I sent it to Fargo(?). I’ve done all I can and I’d like to send it to an expert. I appreciate your help. I just can’t afford a Mini 3, a new Mac and possible cad software upgrades. Thanks.
It’s not worth the cost of repair at this point. If you can do it for free, or find somebody to help for very cheap, you’d be better off buying an A1 mini or various other new printers.

Would a standard SideKick 747 at $400 less than a Mini 3 work with my Mac High Sierra and Cura 3.6.20? I really don’t want to switch brands.

The incredible love of my life Dana passed away a year and a half ago and I’ve been struggling with grief. It affects my thinking and decision making.
I really need this hobby to keep my brain active. I’m approaching 80 and I still love creating things all by myself. I’m not asking for sympathy, but your advice and suggestions mean a lot to me. They’re a couple of the reasons why I hope to continue as a Lulzbot customer.
Do you have the original box? I have like 15 mini 1s that I, uh, collect for some reason. Mainly because I can get them for next to nothing. I repair them all the time. If you can get it to me I will fix it for you (within reason) and send it back to you.

Would it be that hard to pick up an old windows laptop to slice and send from? It’s certainly cheaper than a new Lulzbot machine.
I wouldn’t switch to Windows, especially since my cad software and lots more are Mac. That sounds great. I don’t have the box but UPS does a decent job packing and shipping. I’d get a quote from them first, so where are you?
I also have a new SL .25 tool head that I tried once but won’t use - too slow for my purposes. It’s yours if you want it. And I’m open to paying you whatever you feel is fair.
I also have an unused complete silicone heat bed that I’d like installed. I’d rather have a magnetic one if you could install that instead.

You don’t have to do any CAD on windows. Just have a PC that has Cura on it. Drop STL files on the thumbdrive, slice in Cura, send to the printer.
So my Mini should just be put out of its misery, and having Luis repair it doesn’t make sense. Buying a Mini 3 is actually a stretch for me. Any Windows pc connected to a Flashforge or Creality makes more sense. Thank you!
