PLA feeding issues

Is there something inherently different with how PLA filament feeds off the spool? I keep getting twists and occasional binding issues that I don’t experience with HIPS. Thanks

Depending on the type and manufacture, PLA can be much more brittle, which can be made worse by storage inside a heated build enclosure or exposure to very high humiditiy levels. There are various things you can try to minimize that, but they all basically boil down to making sure that the fillament guide path is as constrained as possible as close to the spool all the way to the print head as possible, with the spool at the angle best suited for feeding into that system. There are guide rollers and tube extensions and whatnot. If it’s a particularily bad spool, it may be worth your time to scrap it and buy a new one.
