Printing WAX

Here’s a couple of photos of the result. I think there’s still some room for improvement. A little sanding and a quick pass with a pen torch cleaned things up a bit better too. If I adjust the supports a little, it should make for some easier cleanup too.


The print looks worse in the photo because of the reflections

Looks like hair spray is the key. Also, a first layer at a higher temp. The second print using this method worked even better than the first. At some point I may try and eliminate the solid base.

Two wheels printed. I need to improve my technique for joining the two halves together.


Using Simplify3D helped to really speed up the prints. They are half the time as my Cura prints due to being able to print the lower layers at a larger layer size.

Have you refined your technique for printing machinable wax since you last posted? Wonder if you’ve developed a reliable method.
