Cura 3.6.20 on Windows 10 Can't connect to printer

My Lulzbot Mini was running fine until my PC crashed about three years ago. I’m trying to get it back up and running and it’s not going so well.

On my “new” computer (Windows 10 Pro, 3.10 GHz, 8.00 GB) , I loaded the latest stable version of Cura (3.6.20) and the rocktopus STL file. I navigated the new user interface and selected Start Print.

The user interface indicated “connecting”, the fan started and then stopped. Then the message, “Can’t connect to printer” appeared.

I have been looking through the forum for some ideas to try but nothing has changed so far. It consistently does the same thing each time. What do I need to try next? I appreciate you trying to help me.

It is likely that your firmware is old and one side isn’t handling the connections properly, I would recommend trying another program to interface with your printer and manually upload newer firmware.

I had this problem recently after a windows update… our IT dept. cured it, but i believe the problem was the power setting to us USB slots… windows wants to turn them off on the laptops to save power.

I will focus on updating the firmware in the printer and come back here to report. Thanks.
