LulzBot TAZ Pro Dark No Boot

My TAZ pro was printing the first layer and went dark. The motherboard side 5A fuse blew. On power-on, there is the blip of the fan trying to spin but it stops. There were red LEDs lit on the top of the board. The power supply has 24V output. Replacing the fuse did not change the problem.

I ordered a new motherboard and replaced it. The new motherboard acts the same as the old one. New motherboard has a green LED that lights - no red LEDs. I tried power-on by unplugging each cable one by one and booting trying to find an obvious short circuit. Nothing as simple as that has pointed to the problem. Unplugging the print head did not change anything.

Have you flashed the new motherboard?

I did not flash the motherboard. I assume the fan will come up regardless. Given the possible need for CPU control over the fan then maybe it’s working as expected.

I hope the firmware is working enough to update the motherboard from USB using the Cura App. If not then I need a programmer to get it started.

The boards do not ship with firmware flashed, so definitely worth a try.
