M175v2 Extruder Gearing Issue?

Recently added a M175v2 toolhead to a TAZ 6 machine. I noticed that the extruder didn’t seem all that tight up against the rest of the toolhead. The nozzle is firm against the Bondtech extruder. The nozzle position varies slightly on the x axis due to the wobble.

To investigate I started to remove the extruder to see what’s going on. I noticed that the Bondtech gear on the extruder motor is installed backwards (see picture)?

The gear is backwards according to the Bondtech documentation. Is there a reason why it’s backwards on the M175 or is this an error during assembly?

I can’t add both the Bondtech instructions and the picture I took since I’m limited to 1 photo.

Thanks for any insight you all might have.

I have a custom m175v2 built on a budget using clone hardware and that is how I also mounted the gear. I have not had any problems with extrusion other than the set screw backing out because I did not use thread lock and I use very high acceleration.

Ok thanks. Not sure why Bondtech has the gear facing the other way then.

The gear faces the other way because they use much thinner plates between the motor and the bmg so it contacts near the motor so it would hit the set screw if it was the other way. Because lulzbot uses much thicker plates between the extruder and the motor it has to go the other way to avoid hitting the set screw. On the m175 the gears mesh on the green. On a normal setup with the thinner plates between the parts it would hit the red which is why the info contradicts.

Thanks for setting me straight everyone! Truly appreciated!
