Mini 1 Help Please

Hello, I just got this Mini 1, and am getting aquatinted with it. When I go to print an object, the print starts good, but they after a few layers, it starts dragging the print nozzle through the printed object (see 1st pic.). The nozzle will eventually drag the partially printed object around the board until I stop the print. Is there a way to adjust how close the nozzle gets to the object so it will NOT drag through my project? Im using the latest version of Cura from Lulzbot.

For another data point…..I restarted the print and now this time, the nozzle is about 1/2 above the print surface as it prints. This is also a mess! (see pic)

Last question. I have two printheads with this Mini. The first is the AeroStruder. The second is the printhead that came on the machine when it was new. The hot end needs to be replaced on the second (original OEM) printhead. I reached out to Lulzbot, but they said they do not support the Mini 1. Are there any good replacement hot ends I could install?

Thanks so much!

Ed

Based on the picture, that is in no way starting good. The nozzle is scraping into the bed so much it can’t even get a brim down.

Your nozzle is probably horribly dirty and can’t get a good read of the washers around the bed, leading to completely inconsistent measurements, so it’s either too low, or too high.

There’s plenty of custom toolheads that can be put in place, but it will be up to you to calibrate e-steps, nozzle offsets and optimal temperatures.

I honestly wouldn’t put that much work into the Mini 1 now.
