My prints have become off kilter

So my Taz 6 started making an odd “skipping” noise when starring my prints. When the head moves from each point, no problem. It’s only when the calibration is done and the actual print is starting. The starring point is not where it is supposed to start and then my prints start shifting after a few layers.

I replaced the X-axis belt, don’t know how much slack is supposed to be in it.i have a kinda snug. Could my stepper motor that the belt attaches to be going out?

Stepper motors in these don’t go out very often. Stepper drivers on the rambo board though, they do go out. They’re about 10 years old on a lot of the Taz 6’s at this point, so it’s not surprising.

Have you put any sort of lubrication on the rods? These run dryLin dry bushings and any lubrication on there can contaminate them, and cause them to put excess strain on the motor.

Beyond that, are you using a different slicer or otherwise tried adjusting feed rates? The firmware doesn’t prevent you from setting your max feedrate to outrageous speeds, which can cause it to miss steps or just not move at all.
