Upgrade Taz 4 Toolhead

I currently have a Taz 4 with a Budaschnozzle and want to upgrade to the new LulzBot TAZ Single Extruder Tool Head v2. I have several questions about the process if someone could help me out:

  1. Which one to buy? There are 3 options a v2c .5mm nozzle, a v2c .35mm nozzle and a v2b .5mm nozzle. I currently have a .35mm nozzle should I stick with that or move to .5mm? Which connector should I get? I saw there is a chart with a bunch of connectors I need to get in addition and it appears to be same for each option so is there an advantage to getting one over the other?

  2. Will my old extruder and Flexystruder be able to be used once I upgrade to the new one or are they now pretty much useless?

Thank you for any advice!

  1. The V2B connector is compatible with your printer. You’ll also need to add the wiring for the micro blower. LulzBot has a handy guide with all the steps: https://ohai.lulzbot.com/project/taz4-hexagon-toolhead/accessories/ As far as nozzles, the .5mm is a better balance of max print speed, print quality, and clog resistance than a .35mm. Only go with a .35 if you need max quality available.

  2. You can still use your old toolheads, you just have to flash firmware whenever you switch back and forth between a V1 and V2 toolhead. This is easy from within Cura: https://www.lulzbot.com/learn/tutorials/firmware-flashing-through-cura

Thank you!

Does the Hexagon Hotend w/ the V2B connector have the screw hole for auto bed leveling?
