I am having trouble getting the filament to stick to the heated bed. I have cleaned the bed with isopropyl alcohol and acetone, wet sanded the bed with 1,000 and 2,000 grit sandpaper, and applied purple glue to no avail.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.
For adhesion issues, generally a picture of a first layer helps a ton.
If the bed’s clean, it’s usually a Z offset issue.
Thank you.
I’ll need to look into how the z-offset is adjusted.
On a mini 1, you’ll have to do it through the Cura software, unless you have added a screen to yours.
How do I set the Z-offset? I looked in the manual and asked Gemini and was given inaccurate instructions that apparently don’t apply to my Lulzbot Mini1???
I’m pretty sure its with M851.
Yes, I got that in the manual. But, it says go the window at the bottom left of my Cura screen, and that window doesn’t exist. I searched all through the menus and found some commands beginning with M’s, but none were for the wiping function. I tried enter M851 in a window labeled Start G-code, which is not correct for changing Z-offset in wiping mode, but for printing, and it wouldn’t take it.
Very inadequate instructions.
What version of CuraLE are you using? Details on the “manual” and details on the system you are connecting the printer to would also be helpful.
With CuraLE 4.13.17, click on Monitor at the top and then (after selecting the USB device that is the printer) click on Console on the right side.
You could also use Printrun to send commands to the printer.
Some useful commands to use would be G28 to home the printer, M503 to show the current settings, M851 will show the current offsets and M851 Z0.0 (probably need a negative value here) will adjust the Z-offset, and M500 will save it. This Marlin gcode website is very useful.
The Mini 1 without an LCD screen is very old and the “manual” may be just as old. It may be referring to an older version of CuraLE. It may be possible to find that older version but it is probably easier to use a more up-to-date version of CuraLE and adjust the instructions to match.
